Robert Bosch wanted one laser marking and coding machine to print onto plastic and metal surfaces of the horn
They used to have inkjet systems, but they were fed up with them because, apart from using an expensive consumable, the ink is dirty and polluting
This is the application story of five Scriptmark and two Linemark
lasers sold and installed in Robert Bosch plant in La Carolina (Jaén),
Spain.
Robert Bosch España, S.A. produces automobiles and motorcycles horns
for the main automotive brands: Mercedes, PSA Group, BMW, Renault,
Honda, Nissan, etc.
The Customer Requirements
Robert Bosch wanted one laser marking and coding machine to print onto plastic and metal surfaces of the horn.
They used to have inkjet systems, but they were fed up with them
because, apart from using an expensive consumable, the ink is dirty and
polluting. They also had a problem with the ink mark, because with the
heat, humidity and water condensation of the motor, it was totally
erased. It happens the same in the Nordic countries, where they use
salt to avoid frozen roads.
And Robert Bosch wanted a permanent mark; therefore the marking and laser technology was a very good choice!
Macsa’s proposal
We installed and integrated 5 Scriptmark and 2 Linemark laser marking
and coding systems into the production line to code onto black plastic
and onto the bridle of the horns, to mark them in a static mode.
All the conveyor line is robotic, and in this production line they mark
30 pieces each minute. The coding time for each horn is about 0.3
seconds. All our laser marking and coding systems are connected to a PC
and they work with Marca software.
Robert Bosch found another advantage from the laser marking and coding
systems: they could mark onto different parts of the piece,
independently of the colour surface; something that did not happen with
the black ink, which could not be emphasized on a black background.
With Macsa laser systems, we can code the following information onto the horn:
- Logos (BMW, Chrysler, AUDI, etc.)
- Internal code of 5/6 digits
The 5 Scriptmarks mark onto plastic and painted metals.
The 2 Linemarks, specially mark onto non-painted metals.
With this project we guaranteed to Robert Bosch a permanent and emphasizing mark for their horns!
