Macsa ID SA, the Spanish laser technology company has announced the release of a new version of its Scanlinux laser driver software

Scanlinux 5.0.0 adds significant extra functionality with several new features. These include: Support for other characters sets. Because Scanlinux software uses Unicode fonts it enables the iCON laser to print Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Chinese and Cyrilic character sets; Menus in local languages. Scanlinux menus are now available in Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. Other languages will be added according to user demand; Increased support for non-European calendar types (Hijri) and digits (Arabic and Indic). Offset dates may now be expressed in months as well as in days; and More powerful formatting capabilities. Vertical and right left writing of text is now possible, it is easier to position specific objects and each object may now be individually formatted. Macsa Sales and Marketing Director, David Jenkins, says: ‘this new software release is the first of many as we build on the successful launch of the iCON specialist small character coding laser. Over 100 lasers have now been shipped world-wide and interest from our distributors and end-users is very strong.’
